Britney Spears Conservatorship Judge Grants Attorney’s Request to Move Singer’s Assets into Different Investment Strategy

March 30, 2013

Britney Spears seems to have gotten her personal life back on track after finding romance with new beau David Lucado following her defunct engagement to ex-fiancé  Jason Trawick.

Now, her legal team is hoping to get the pop star’s business affairs in order as well.

The “Scream & Shout” singer’s conservatorship attorneys were in court Friday morning to ask a judge for authority to modify the investment allocation strategy of Spears’ assets—the latest development in a seemingly never-emdomg string of court hearings since her conservatorship was established in the aftermath of her notorious 2008 mental-health crisis and subsequent public meltdown.

Britney Spears Trial Dismissed

November 4, 2012

Following a couple of weeks of testimony regarding sordid details from Britney Spears’ pre-conservatorship meltdown phase, a judge has dismissed Sam Lutfi’s case against the pop icon. Entertainment reporter MariaElena Fernandez, who was covering the motion to dismiss by Spears’ camp, broke the news on Twitter and TMZ has now confirmed.

Britney Spears emotionally manipulated in conservatorship, says ex nanny

October 20, 2012

Washington, Oct 17: Britney Spears’ former nanny is all set to testify that the pop singer has been emotionally manipulated throughout her court-ordered conservatorship along with offering shocking details, when she takes the stand this week as a witness for the ‘X Factor’ judge’s former manager Sam Lutfi.

Lourdes Torres, who has spent a great deal of time with the Spears family, is also said to present shocking details when she appears as witness for Lutfi in his ongoing breach of contract, libel and defamation case for comments pop singer’s mother Lynne Spears made in a book about her life.

“Lulu is going to be called as a witness by Sam Lutfi’s lawyer to testify about what she witnessed when she was a nanny to Britney’s two children, in the months after the conservatorship was put in place in 2008,” Radar Online quoted a source as saying.

Why Britney Spears Won’t Testify in Sam Lutfi Trial

October 1, 2012

When it comes to the ongoing legal battle between Britney Spears and her former manager Sam Lutfi, E! News can confirm that the pop singer will not be taking the stand when the trial starts next week.

And here’s why…

E! News has obtained the witness list for Lutfi’s defamation trial against Spears and her parents, but Brit’s name isn’t on that list because the probate judge issued an order stating that since she is still under a conservatorship, she cannot be called to testify.

Judge Reva Goetz, who has been overseeing Spears’ conservatorship since 2008, ruled that putting Britney on the stand would cause her “irreparable harm and immediate danger.”

Britney Spears Has Had ENOUGH Of Her Conservatorship!

Britney Spears Has Had ENOUGH Of Her Conservatorship!

August 27, 2012

Eek! Can’t say we blame her!

It was recently revealed that Britney Spears would most likely remain under conservatorship for the remainder of the year – possibly only to keep her from having to testify in a lawsuit from Sam Lufti – and the pop star is said to becoming more and more frustrated with the arrangement, as she’s clearly able to manage her own affairs at this point!

And she has a $15 million contract with The X Factor to prove it!

According to an insider:

“Britney told Judge Reva Goetz in her chambers with her court appointed attorney, Sam Ingham present, that she is ready for the conservatorship to end. Britney said she doesn’t understand why it’s still in place and expressed her belief that she has got to be the only person under a conservatorship that has managed to land a $15 million work contract. Britney wants the conservatorship to end, it’s fine with her if it stays in place as far as her business and professional life, but she wants to call the shots when it comes to her personal life. Britney pointed out to the judge that she will be on live television weekly this fall once X Factor premiers on Fox in September and the tremendous progress she has made since the conservatorship was put in place almost four years ago. Britney’s team of doctors just don’t feel that she is ready for the conservatorship to end. They have specific concerns related to her mental health and aren’t ready to tell the judge that Britney is ready to go it alone just yet. Judge Goetz is the only person that can end the conservatorship.”

Britney Spears’ Fiance to Share in Her Conservatorship

April 8, 2012

First comes the engagement, then comes…conservatorship?

Singer Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, who holds conservatorship over his daughter and her fortune, has asked a court to add future son-in-law Jason Trawick as a co-conservator, People reports.

Trawick, 40, Britney’s former agent, asked her to marry him in December in Las Vegas. He will be Husband No. 3 for Brit, 30, who has been under the legal control of her father since 2008 when she suffered a psychological breakdown.

Trawick will help look after Spears’ general well-being – is she eating properly, getting medical care and so forth – not her finances, People reports.

OOPS…Britney Spears’ Conservator Did It Again

March 16, 2012

The once-troubled pop star sure has been in the news a lot lately. Settling lawsuits, postponing her wedding, negotiating to be a judge on The X Factor, putting one of her mansions up for sale. It makes you wonder … is Britney Spears making any decisions about her life, or does her father, as her Conservator, decide everything?

Several months ago, we wrote how her father, Jamie Spears, was using the conservatorship to insulate Britney from lawsuits, including one by a company called Brand Sense. The company had sued Britney for breach of contract, after Team Britney cut Brand Sense out of profits from her perfume deal with Elizabeth Arden. Because Britney had been declared mentally incompetent, which justified the conservatorship, her father and their attorneys were able to keep Britney from being questioned under oath in a deposition for the lawsuit.

The downside to this? They can’t have their cake and eat it too. If Britney is not competent to answer questions in a deposition, then can she be competent enough to be married? Likely not, which is why her wedding date is being postponed until the Lufti lawsuit ends.

But, that’s not the only problem. Most recently, newspapers report that Trawick is negotiating with Simon Cowell’s The X Factor for Britney to be a judge on the show. Reportedly, they’ve offered Britney $10 million, but she wants $20 million. She’s even said to be ready to undergo media training to get ready for her judge-ship.

This of course raises the question. If she’s competent enough to serve as a talent judge on a major TV network television show, how in the world can she be so incompetent that she can’t make her own decisions?

Britney Spears’ Beverly Park House Headed For Probate Sale

March 9, 2012

You probably best remember this house as the one that police helicopters circled and cops guarded when Britney Spears was carted off to rehab in a $25,000 taxpayer-sponsored rescue. If that wasn’t enough to cause neighbors to drop their membership in the Britney Spears’ fan club, news that the mansion that Britney paid $6.75 million for in 2007 has come back on the market — at a lowly $2.995 million — surely will. “Ouch” cry the area comps in pain.
